The Senate Economic Growth committee is scheduled to discuss proposed bill S182, which requires licensing of pet groomers and registration of certain other businesses and establishes certain licensing and operating requirements.

NJPPGA President Chris Anthony and Board Member Lynn Paolillo will be attending with intention to speak against the bill, along with Pet Advocacy Network Executive Vice President Robert Likins.

NOTES ON THE MEETING:
NJPPGA President Chris Anthony and Membership Chair Lynn Paolillo attended and spoke at today's Senate Economic Growth committee meeting regarding the proposed groomer licensing legislation bill S182.
The bill was up for discussion only, meaning there was opportunity for the public to speak for or against the bill to the committee members and there was no voting on the bill to move it out of committee.
In addition to the representatives from NJPPGA, there was also a representative from the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, American Kennel Club and the Pet Advocacy Network all who spoke in opposition of the bill as written.
The current proposed bill is an old version, not considering many of the amendments that have been proposed and worked on by these groups on behalf of pet professionals.
We will be following up with the members of the committee and sponsors of the bill to work with them on making the necessary changes.
